Education minister visits COVID-19 drive-through testing centre in Clifton
Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani, who recently recovered from the coronavirus disease after spending a week in complete isolation at his home, visited the country’s first drive-through COVID-19 testing facility in Clifton established by the Sindh government in collaboration with the private sector.
The drive-through coronavirus testing is a modern concept rapidly being adopted by the first world countries, wrecked by the COVID-19 pandemic, to limit the exposure of medical practitioners to the deadly virus while doing the testing.
Stringent measures are being put in place all over the world to keep the healthcare professionals secured against the viral disease.
During the visit, Ghani obtained information about the testing service being offered at the drive-through facility recently launched by Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.
He said that it was the resolve of the provincial government to provide maximum COVID-19 testing facilities to the people in the province. He said that people were required to get registered in advance to get tested for the coronavirus epidemic free of charge at the drive-through facility.
He said that the government had been utilising the best of its resources to prevent the local transmission of the viral epidemic.
The education minister added that people had to observe the caution of social distancing as without following this norm this viral epidemic could not be overcome.
He said that the Sindh government as the last resort had taken certain tough decisions to restrict public life to keep people safe from the onslaught of the epidemic. He said the more people followed the health advisory of the government, the safer they would remain.
At a time four persons could be offered the COVID-19 testing service at the drive-through facility. The appointment to get tested at the facility could be obtained by calling at the helpline service of the deputy commissioner South.
