EU to hold major moot on Pakistan in October

BRUSSELS: An international forum for overseas Pakistanis in Germany has planned a major conference in Brussels, in coordination with the European Parliament, on October 25 to check extremism, focus on key issues like education and to make Pakistan a better society.
Organised jointly by the European Parliament and the Pakistan Overseas Association Forum International, the conference will be opened by the EU Parliament President Martin Schulze.Senior politicians from Pakistan, media experts, educationists, entrepreneurs, business leaders, scholars, artists and social activists will attend.
Chief organiser Syed Khurram, who is a successful businessman in Germany, announcing the event said: “It was our duty to learn and apply the lessons learnt from western societies to our country, by educating people, spreading awareness and by providing the people with the opportunity to make Pakistan a better place to live in.”
Prominent among those who will attend the conference, titled “Education For All”, include prominent Pakistan businessman Sadruddin Hashwani, former speaker of the National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza, Vice Chancellor LUMS University Lahore Dr Professor Sohail Naqvi, textile industrialist Syed Ali Ahsan, Chairman APTMA SM Tanveer, another APTMA leader Syed Ali Hasan, known personality Syed Yawar Ali, PML-Q leader Senator Mushahid Hussain, senior journalist Jugnu Mohsin, renowned marketing executive Syed Sarmad Ali of Jang Group, many famous TV anchors and media persons, besides influential Pakistanis from Europe and America. In addition, many known names from all professions of life, from Europe, Middle East and Turkey, affiliated with arts, education, journalism, music, show business will take part in this event in an effort to bring about a positive change for the masses. The important question to be discussed will be what the expatriate Pakistanis can do while they still live outside the country, which of course is a choice they made, and in most cases they were forced to make because of the current conditions of the country.
