Iesco registers 610 FIRs against power thieves
Islamabad : The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has registered 610 FIRs against electricity thieves and 65 people sent to Adiala Jail. The concerned authority has caught 4,443 suspicious meters used in electricity theft of 9,241,618 units in four months from October 13, 2018 to February 14, 2019.
The Iesco Chief Executive, Shahid Iqbal in a meeting held here on Thursday has directed to register FIRs against SDO and Line Superintendent of concerned sub divisions where power theft cases appearing.
The Iesco Official Spokesman Raja Asim Nazir told ‘The News’ that CEO on Thursday has categorically decided to register FIRs against SDOs and Line Superintendents of concerned sub-divisions where electricity theft cases appearing. He has admitted that power theft was not possible without cooperation of field staff of concerned authority. He has also said that two Line Superintendent (LF) have been suspended by Chief Executive Officer and directed to investigate the issue to start process to register FIRs.
He said that power theft from 237 meters through tempering, from785 meters through ‘Kunda’ (direct supply), from 3,337 meters through slow metering and from 84 meters through disturbance.
According to Iesco that the authority has caught total 4,443 suspicious meters in which 611 from Islamabad Circle, 1,505 from Rawalpindi Circle, 481 from Attock Circle, 1145 from Jhelum Circle and 701 meters from Chakwal Circle.
The authority has requested to register 1,100 FIRs but higher authorities given approval of 610 FIRs for registration according to sections of 462-H, 462-I, 462-J, 462-K, 462-L and 462-M.
Total 9,241,618 power units have been theft in different circles and the authority recovered Rs157,754,605 from power thieves in four months from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and from Chakwal circles.
