Islamabad Club beat KRL Veterans

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Club defeated KRL Veterans by 50 runs in a match of the Pakistan Veterans (40 plus) Cricket Tournament at the Islamabad Club ground here, says a press release.

Batting first, Islamabad Club scored 241 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 30 overs.Kashif Shabeer was their highest scorer, hitting seven sixes and six fours in his 62-ball 96. Hassan Raza made a fine 53, which came off 45 balls and included seven boundaries. Talib Rizvi and Atif Ishaq contributed 20 and 18 runs, respectively.

Amir Riasat and Akram Tahir claimed two wickets each for 22 and 37 runs, respectively. Other wicket-takers for KRL Veterans were Ejaz Ahmed (1-43) and Asif Mehmood (1-50).In reply, KRL Veterans were bowled out for 191 in 23.2 overs.

Asif Mehmood top-scored for them with a fine knock of 72 that included three sixes and nine fours and came off 49 deliveries. Other noticeable contributors were Munir Mughal (36), Amir Riasat (22) and Shafiqur Rehman (18).

For Islamabad Club, Asif Khan and Mohammad Azhar claimed three wickets each for 16 and 32 runs, respectively.Justice (r) Ejaz Yousaf not only captained his side well but also bowled economically. He took one wicket for 12 runs in his two overs of off-spin.
