DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi on Sunday asked the government to reshape internal and foreign policy to overcome the scourge of terrorism and extremism in the country.
Flanked by Zahid Mehmood Qasmi, member Council of Islamic Ideology, Ashrafi told a press conference that currently the government was pursuing a policy that had been framed in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in the US. He had arrived to attend Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (PBUH) Conference held by district chapter of the Pakistan Ulema Council.
Ashrafi said the policies were providing an opportunity to external powers to interfere and influence the country’s matters on internal and external fronts.Condemning the Peshawar school carnage, he said all bodies of the Ulema had condemned the incident and rejected terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
“They are our children, no matter which part of the country they belong to, whether it’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fata, Punjab, Sindh or Balochistan,” he said.He also announced that Pakistan Ulema Council would take part in upcoming local government elections in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
