Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, in a talk with The News on Wednesday, said the administration would provide justice to the family of Kanza Ahmed, who died of food poisoning last month after eating a burger from Dilpasand Sweets’ Nazimabad branch.
He said tests conducted on the family’s insistence had proven the burger was unfit for human consumption, after which the outlet was sealed. “We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against food adulteration. The outlet has been sealed and sections of health laws included in the case FIR,” said Siddiqui.
Kanza, 13, died on January 29, while her mother and two younger brothers fell sick after eating chicken burgers at the outlet. “The administration will not allow any health violations. A human life is the most precious of things and anyone guilty of endangering citizens’ lives will be punished,” the commissioner said.
