KP govt urged to announce PFC award
SWABI: The non-government organisations and local government representatives Saturday asked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led Khyber Paktunkhwa government to announce the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) Award 2017-18 under the Local Government Act 2013.
The demand was made by Samaji Behbood Rabita Council (SBRC) and Good Governance District Coalition (GGDC) at a press conference here. Members of Safar Welfare Organisation and representatives of the local government were also present on the occasion.
The speakers expressed concern over the prolonged delay in the award and said it should be immediately announced to fulfil its responsibility of devising new formula for resource distribution.
They said that the PFC Award was vital for devolution of financial responsibilities.
They also demanded implementation of KP Local Government Act 2013, particularly its Section 53. Referring to the provision under article 140-A of the constitution, they stated that the idea of PFC Awardwas vital for devolution of financial responsibility.
