Protective bail

The SHC had on Tuesday granted protective bail to provincial law minister in a case initiated by the National Accountability Bureau.  Petitioner Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar approached the court to obtain protective pre-arrest bail in connection with a call-up notice issued to him by NAB. He submitted that he was issued the notice and feared that he would be arrested by the investigative agency.  The petitioner said that he was willing to cooperate with the investigation and requested the court to grant him protective bail.

 

Two die in mishaps 

A teenager lost her life after getting accidentally electrocuted at her house in Orangi Town on Wednesday.  Malaika, 13, was going through the wires of the switch board when she received severe electric shocks and died due to burns. Her body was taken to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).  While riding a motorbike, a woman was killed while the rider sustained injuries when a speeding vehicle rammed into it at Native Jetty Bridge.  According to a rescue source, 22-year-old Ayesha died on spot and 40-year-old Muhammad Ali survived the accident. Both were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for legalities.

 

Four jailed for attacking police

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) convicted and awarded 34-year imprisonment to a man, Mazhar alias Azhar, convicted in cases related to possession of illegal arms and explosives and attacks on police. Three of his companions, Asmatullah, Amir and Jalal, were awarded 20-year imprisonment (each) in these cases. The court in its verdict observed that one of the accused, Mazhar alias Azhar, was involved in dangerous crimes such as possessing explosive material, attempting killing of policemen and others and, was liable to be awarded severe punishment hence he has been jailed for life.

 

Teen drowns in Malir River

Two people including a teenager died in different incidents of drowning.  According to rescue sources, Heer, 13 lost her life after she slipped into the waters of Malir River and drowned. Her body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legalities.   A 70-year-old unknown man drowned in the sea after he fell from the Native Jetty Bridge. His body was later taken to Civil Hospital.

CM Shah condoles death of MPA’s father 

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited the residence of MPA Erum Khalid and offered condolences on the demise of her father. The CM prayed for the departed and for courage to the bereaved family to bear an irreparable loss with fortitude. The CM was accompanied by Mukesh Chawla, Sharjeel Memon and others.
