Police claim killing Lyari grenade attackers
Two suspects involved in the recent grenade attacks in Lyari were killed in a police encounter early on Thursday morning in the Photo Lane area, Kalakot police said.
Kalakot police station SHO Ayaz Khan said an informant tipped the police off about the presence of gangsters belonging to Baba Ladla’s gang at a hotel on Aslam Brohi Road.
A police unit rushed there to make arrests, but the group of gangsters opened fire on them. The police retaliated and killed two gangsters, while others managed to flee during the heavy exchange of fire.
The bodies were taken to Civil Hospital Karachi for a post-mortem where they were identified as 28-year-old Adnan alias Addu and 21-year-old Ameen Baloch alias Danny.
Khan said that the suspects were involved in the recent hand grenade attacks on Ghareeb Shah Road and Rexar Lane. He added that the two were planning to target Lyari gangster Uzair Baloch’s residence.
He said the suspects killed a man named Israr, who was an uncle of Uzair’s brother-in-law.
Rangers arrests
APP adds: The Sindh Rangers arrested eight members of a wanted gang of robbers from Gadap Town and Hub on Thursday.
As per a statement issued by the Rangers, teams first arrested Zahid Ali, Azizullah, Umer Farooq Udho and Ehsanullah from different parts of Gadap Town. On their information, more members of the gang – Umer Magsi, Ali Hasan alias Akber, Ibrahim Magsi and Kashif Magsi – were arrested from Hub.
The men are accused of involvement in more than 80 criminal cases, including bank robberies. The four arrested from Hub had, according to the Rangers, sought refuge there after allegedly killing two people in Karachi. The accused were handed over to local police.
