UNDP praises KP

PESHAWAR: The international donor agencies have appreciated the capacity-building of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the setting up of specialised schools.

“A review of these schools was undertaken by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) which in its report described them as a strategic step in the right direction,” said a handout by the KP Police.

The report came after the UNDP team made thorough visits to all these schools. They evaluated the management, course modules, faculty, physical infrastructure and equipment made available to them.

“The report appreciated the overall operational framework of these schools and proposed them to be affiliated with similar professional schools in Europe and America for strengthening their capacity and technical knowhow. It suggested that these schools shall be connected with the local academia of the universities and experts from other departments too,” said the handout.

The report emphasized the need for developing a long-term strategic policy framework for perpetual professional growth of these institutions. It elaborated that KP has been in the grip of terrorism and militancy for quite some time. A vibrant police force, properly trained and equipped with modern tools and technology is the only option against this menace in the long run. The handout said the teams appreciated KP IGP Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani for trying to replicate the best international practices.
