King Charles gears for next diplomatic engagement after US visit
King Charles and Queen Camilla made their historic four-day state visit to the United States in late April
King Charles is expected to meet Irish President Catherine Connolly during her official visit to London and Leeds this week.
The president, who took control of the seat last November, is on her first three-day visit to England, begins on Monday.
On first day, Catherine will visit the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith, then Irish Ambassador to Britain Martin Fraser and Deirdre Fraser will host the president and her husband in the evening at the Irish Embassy in London.
On day two, Catherine will visit the London Irish Centre in Camden and watch the Chelsea Flower Show.
On her final day of visit, she will visit Leeds University and the Leeds Irish Centre.
The Irish President's three-day visit came after King Charles' state visit to the USA, which saw Charles and wife Queen Camilla travel across Washington, D.C. and New York City, where they attended several major events, including a historic speech to Congress marking 250 years of American independence.
U.S. President Donald Trump praised Charles during the visit, calling him a great king. “Really great people. We need more people like that in our country. He’s a great king. The greatest king in my book.”
