QAU condemns beating of officials
Islamabad: Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) administration has strongly condemned the attack on the university’s Chief Security Officer and lawyers outside the court here Wednesday.
In an official statement, the university said that the unfortunate incident occurred when students and outsiders residing illegally in the hostels were produced before the court as part of ongoing legal proceedings.
During the break, the students and their supporting lawyers attacked and beat the university’s Chief Security Officer Col. (r) Nadeem and lawyers Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan and Raja Subhan-ul-Hassan. Strongly condemning the incident. The QAU administration said the “University is a peaceful educational institution that fully believes in the rule of law and the protection of the academic environment.”
It said the presence of people residing illegally in the hostels not only poses a threat to the discipline but also disrupts the academic activities of other students.
