LAHORE: Police have busted a criminal network using InDrive app to loot customers, with the mastermind shockingly identified as a software operator employed at the app’s local office.

According to SP Model Town, Akhlaq Ullah Tarar, the prime suspect, Farhan, misused his position at the InDrive office to create fake driver accounts for his accomplices, enabling them to carry out thefts under the guise of legitimate courier deliveries.

Acting on a tip-off, SHO Gulberg Taimoor Abbas and his police team conducted a successful raid using advanced surveillance technology and apprehended four suspects involved in the scam. Those arrested include ringleader Farhan, along with accomplices Kashif, Faisal, and Waleed. The gang allegedly stole couriered goods worth millions of rupees by diverting or disappearing with deliveries booked via the app under fake profiles. The police recovered a substantial quantity of stolen items, including electronics, clothing, and two unlicensed pistols from the suspects.

“A coordinated operation between our police and the InDrive app’s internal team helped unearth the entire network,” SP Tarar said, adding that an FIR has been registered and further investigations are under way.
