PESHAWAR: Already facing shortage of senior cops, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police lost three more seasoned officers after they were transferred to other provinces and forces.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have been short of officers in grade-20, 19 and 18 for the last many years. Despite the fact that the matter was taken up with the federal government on a number of occasions, no solution could be found to address this issue.

On Friday, three more senior officers were transferred out of the province. They included Deputy Inspector General of Police Ashraf Noor, who is to report to Frontier Constabulary, DIG Azad Khan, who has been transferred to Sindh Police, and DIG Abdul Ghafoor Afridi, who will join the National Highways and Motorway Police.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani arranged a farewell party in honour of the three outgoing DIGs at CPO Peshawar on Friday. Additional IGPs Headquarters, Operations, Investigation, CCPO Peshawar, all DIGs and AIGs in CPO and other high ranking officers attended the party.

The IGP paid rich tributes to the services rendered by the outgoing DIGs in their respective units and termed it a source of inspiration and beacon of light for other officers of the force.

The IGP added that with the best combination of heart and mind they added new feathers to the cap of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and termed them best police officers of the future having best leadership qualities and wish them all success in their rest of professional career.

The outgoing officers in their speeches praised the bravery and sacrifices offered by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in the ongoing war against terror.  The IGP presented shields and souvenirs to the outgoing DIGs as a memento.
