3 siblings die after consuming poisonous food

NOWSHERA: Three siblings, including two sisters and a brother, were killed while their mother was admitted to a hospital in critical condition after consuming poisonous food in Azakhel Bala in Nowshera district, police said on Monday.

According to police, the incident occurred late Sunday night when three young siblings died after allegedly taking poisonous food. Their mother is said to be in a precarious condition at the Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex.

Bakht Sher, the father of the children and resident of Azakhel Bala, informed police at the hospital that he was at home when, around 11 pm, his children and wife suddenly fell ill.He said that he rushed them to Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex, where Maryam, 8, Hareem, 6, and Muhammad Yaman, 4, could not survive and were pronounced dead.

The doctors at the hospital said that the mother’s condition was serious and hence she was shifted to the intensive care unit.When contacted, Azakhel Police Station House officer Adil Syed said that the preliminary report has been registered based on the father’s statement.

In his statement, he said Bakht Sher had expressed suspicion that something poisonous might have accidentally fallen into the food that led to the children’s deaths and his wife’s critical condition.

The father also did not allow a post-mortem of the victims’ bodiesThe police registered a case under Section 153 (3 to determine whether the poisonous substance fell accidentally into the food or was added as part of a deliberate act.
