Students made ‘Cleanliness Ambassadors’
LAHORE : Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has appointed students ‘Cleanliness Ambassadors’ across educational institutions as part of its mission to highlight the importance of a clean environment.
LWMC Social Mobilisers Teams, in collaboration with Pak Mission Society, organised a large-scale cleanup drive at Jilani Park, engaging more than 100 students and teachers from private schools. Under the Child-Driven Climate Action Programme, the participants donned gloves and safety vests to pick up litter, segregate waste, and learn best practices for solid waste management.
Walking through the park’s pathways, the young ambassadors distributed flyers and spoke with visitors about the impact of proper waste disposal on public health and urban aesthetics. A public awareness walk further underscored the message that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility.
LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din stated that our students are our greatest asset. To ensure a healthier environment and cleaner air, every member of our community must play an active role. Through hands-on activities and education, we’re empowering tomorrow’s leaders to take ownership of their surroundings. The students and organisers took a collective pledge to champion cleanliness in their neighbourhoods, homes, and schools.
Beyond school-based initiatives, LWMC’s Social Mobiliser teams continued to visit public spaces, educational institutions and residential areas — raising awareness and fostering a city-wide culture of environmental responsibility.
