ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s planned to the national leadership for a luncheon in Islamabad has been postponed due to unspecified reasons.
According to sources, while the Prime Minister did not call a formal meeting, he had extended invitations to the national leadership. Those invited included leaders of various political parties as well as Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jafar Khan Mandokhel, and Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Syed Mehdi Shah.
The purpose of the event was to express gratitude to the political leadership for their unified support of the government and the armed forces in response to Indian aggression. Before the war imposed by India, there was a perception that Pakistan’s political leadership was deeply divided and that the government might struggle to gain unified backing for its actions. However, this assumption was proven wrong when all political parties came together in a historic show of unity during a National Assembly session, unanimously supporting the government’s measures and the role of the armed forces. Sources indicate that a new date for the gathering will be announced soon, where the leadership will again be invited.
