Aleem Akhtar elected ICA president

ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Aleem Akhtar and Shahzada Khurram were elected president and general secretary of the Islamabad Chess Association (ICA) respectively during the general elections here at the prestigious Jinnah Golf Driving Range & Club in Lake View Park, says a press release.

The electoral process was conducted under the watchful eyes of Chief Election Commissioner Saad Raja, an advocate & legal adviser Islamabad Sports Board, and Member Election Commissioner Prof. Dr. Ejaz Asghar Mughal with oversight from observers representing the Islamabad Sports Board, Chess Federation of Pakistan, and Chess Association of Punjab to ensure complete transparency.

After thorough verification of all 22 registered voters through CNIC checks, 15 members participated in the electoral process. The newly elected office-bearers include Senior Vice President Ch. Munir Sadiq, Vice President Dr. Anum Fatima, Joint Secretary Mr. Abdullah Kamal, Finance Secretary Mr. Salman Ali Khan, and Press Secretary Mr. Muhammad Imran. In a symbolic moment, the newly elected team took a collective oath to uphold ICA’s constitution and work for the development of chess in the federal capital. President-elect Aleem Akhtar outlined an ambitious vision for his term, focusing on expanding junior chess programs in Islamabad’s schools, organizing inter-clubs & national level tournaments, and strengthening collaboration with the Chess Federation of Pakistan.
