Canal protesters pelt state minister’s convoy with stones
Minister escaped unhurt, however several others were injured and some vehicles were damaged
SUKKUR: Stones, eggs and tomatoes were pelted at the vehicle of Minister of State for Religious Affairs Khewal Das Kohistani in Thatta, reportedly by Sindh Taraqi-pasand Party’s (STP) activists, who also shouted slogans against the canals project.
The incident occurred when the minister was leaving for Sujawal after holding a meeting with local leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League in Thatta when suddenly STP workers pelted stones, eggs and tomatoes on his convoy in the city centre. The minister escaped unhurt, however several others were injured and some vehicles were damaged.
The STP activists were shouting slogans. When the situation worsened, the protocol accompanying the minister took immediate action and took the minister under guard and sent him to Sujawal, while the police and other agencies reached the spot and were collecting details of the incident.
