KARACHI: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is taking proactive steps to enhance bilateral trade with Bangladesh. On Monday, Secretary of TDAP Sheryar Taj met with Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh SM Mahbubul Alam in Karachi to discuss opportunities and lay out a mutual plan of activities aimed at boosting trade relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Taj outlined TDAP’s upcoming trade delegations, which will be visiting Bangladesh in the coming months. The first delegation, focusing on dates and citrus fruits, will arrive later this month, followed by delegations representing rice, maize, sesame, fruit and vegetables, textiles and engineering goods. These delegations aim to engage in business-to-business (B2B) dialogues to explore new market opportunities in Bangladesh.
The deputy high commissioner expressed his full support, assuring facilitation for Pakistani businesses in obtaining visas and backing TDAP’s plans for participation in upcoming exhibitions in Bangladesh, particularly in the denim and textile sectors.
Alam also welcomed the TDAP delegation’s planned visit to the Dhaka International Trade Fair, which is expected to further strengthen business ties between the two nations.The deputy high commissioner was briefed on TDAP’s online resources, including the Pakistan Trade Portal and Pakistan Export Gallery, which offer Bangladeshi businesses the opportunity to connect with Pakistani counterparts. Both parties talked about the importance of continued collaboration to develop robust B2B linkages and further enhance bilateral trade.
