Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reportedly directed the authorities to formulate proposals for reducing government expenditures and overhauling the country’s economic structure. Unfortunately, in Pakistan, economic measures recommended by committees and commissions are never implemented in letter and spirit.
Many of our public servants hang on to their perks and privileges even when they have been retired for years. The government needs to take firm but even-handed action against those who are frittering away the hard-earned money of taxpayers.
