Justice Mohammad Shafi Siddiqui takes oath as SHC chief justice
The Sindh High Court’s (SHC) acting chief justice, Mohammad Shafi Siddiqui, took the oath as the chief justice of the high court at a ceremony at the SHC on Saturday.
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori administered oath to Justice Siddiqui after his appointment as the chief justice of the SHC was confirmed by the judicial commission of Pakistan.
The ceremony was attended by the judges of the high court, attorney general of Pakistan, Sindh chief minister, Sindh chief secretary, federal and provincial law officers, bar representatives and others.
Justice Siddiqui was earlier appointed as the acting chief justice of the SHC after the elevation of previous SHC chief justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi to the Supreme Court.
Justice Siddiqui became a judge of the SHC on March 20, 2012. He is currently, the most senior judge of the high court.
After taking oath, the SHC chief justice visited the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum where he offered prayers and paid homage to the founder of Pakistan.
