Jinnah Park for all
Jinnah Park is the only park in Qamber and ought to be a place for everyone to enjoy. However, it has become predominantly occupied by men and boys. This raises an important question: why are women and girls not seen walking or playing here? Public spaces like Jinnah Park should be inclusive and safe for everyone, regardless of their gender. A safe environment for women and girls is not something that just happens but is something we create.
As residents of Qamber, we have a responsibility to ensure that Jinnah Park is a welcoming space for all. I recommend the authorities take tangible steps including hiring lady police officers during designated times for women and allocating specific times or days exclusively for women and girls.
