This letter refers to the article 'Restore ties with India?' (July 8, 2024) by Sabur Ali Sayyid. The writer has listed some very valid reasons for restoring ties with India for the betterment of our economy and for creating a healthy environment to advance the Kashmiri cause. By cutting ties with India, the Kashmir issue has been left in the cold.
The stubbornness and short-sightedness of India’s ruling elites has also hampered efforts to alleviate poverty in the subcontinent. Unfortunately, the vested interests and negative attitudes of the power-wielders of both countries is the major reason for the unnecessary tensions between our countries. The recommendations made by the writer call for serious deliberation by policymakers.
