Same rulers, same inequality
Gas and electric bills, loadshedding, and rising prices of essential commodities have made the people’s lives unbearable. Meanwhile, the elite and the wealthy are least concerned about inflation and the many perks and privileges of the politicians and state officers are funded by indirect taxation on ordinary citizens. Whatever relief can be provided through subsidized roti and flour or the BISP will soon be washed away when the blessings of the latest budget take effect. In the sixties and seventies, we used to hear politicians talk about how inequality is increasing and that it may result in some kind of revolution. But nothing happened and now those very same politicians are counted among the ‘haves’. If we continue to follow the same politicians, nothing will change.
