LAHORE:Punjab Home Department, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister, made special meeting arrangements for the families of prisoners during Eid-ul-Azha.
According to the spokesperson of the Punjab Home Department, 25,213 citizens met the prisoners in the jails during the Eid days. The spokesman said that apart from face to face meeting, audio and video call facilities were also provided to the prisoners. In view of the heat during Eid, air conditioners were installed in the visiting rooms.
The spokesperson said that Eid-ul-Azha prayers were offered in all 43 jails of Punjab and IG Prisons Mian Farooq Nazir, all DIGs and Superintendents celebrated Eid with the prisoners.
On the day of Eid, the prisoners were given halwa for breakfast, chicken korma in the afternoon and plao in the evening, while on the second day, with the support of philanthropists, the captives were provided with sacrificial meat.
The spokesperson said that the gifts and goods brought by relatives and friends were also delivered to the prisoners. He said that the prison reforms agenda of the Punjab government is being implemented in letter and spirit.
