Police arrested a government adviser imposter on Wednesday. The District East police spokesperson said the suspect drove around in vehicles with fake government number plates to intimidate unsuspecting people. The suspect also uploaded videos on social media, portraying himself to be a government employee.

Taking action on a tip-off, the Gulistan-e-Jauhar police conducted a raid and arrested the suspect named Anas Hanif. His accomplices, however, managed to make their escape. Police found two smartphones and cash on suspect. Two Vigo vehicles, bearing registration numbers GP-3167 and CZ-2390, were also impounded.

Upon investigation, it was found that the fake number plate on one of the Vigos had been actually allotted to a government Suzuki. A case has been registered against the suspect under the relevant laws, and the search for his fleeing accomplices is under way.
