Powerless in Karachi

Over the past several months, the residents of Karachi have experienced frequent power outages, voltage fluctuations, and prolonged periods without electricity. These issues have profoundly impacted our daily lives and well-being. Power outages have become a regular occurrence, often without prior notice. These interruptions are inconvenient and pose significant risks to those who rely on electrical devices for medical reasons. Inconsistent voltage levels have damaged several household appliances, leading to financial losses for many families. This issue also disrupts work, especially for those who work from home and require a stable power supply.

In several instances, blackouts have lasted for hours, sometimes even days. Local businesses are suffering due to the unreliable electricity supply. Small enterprises, in particular, struggle with the additional costs of running generators and the loss of revenue due to interrupted operations. Despite numerous complaints, the power company has not provided clear communication or timely updates regarding the causes of these issues or the steps being taken to resolve them. The community’s frustration is growing.
