The College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has taken notice of Fellow of College of Physicians & Surgeons (FCPS) and Member of College of Physicians & Surgeons (MCPS) trainees being paid less stipend or no stipend at all.
A circular issued by the CPSP quoted Registrar Prof Abdul Razzaq Shaikh as saying that the CPSP is very concerned about the welfare of trainee doctors and the payment of stipend to them.
The letter states that FCPS and MCPS trainees should be paid stipend in accordance with the federal and provincial governments’ rules, equivalent to that of grade 17, and that the college would not register trainees from next month if the institution is not paying them.
