Robbers gun down another young man in Korangi
Another young man was gunned down by robbers in Korangi on Tuesday. After the incident, one of the perpetrators was killed and the other injured by police. Three more suspects were shot dead in encounters in Sharifabad and Ranchore Lane.
Twenty-year-old Abdul Basit, who ran a business of worn shoes, was gunned down near the Nasir Jump in Korangi’s Zaman Town. His relatives said he was killed by robbers. While the perpetrators were trying to flee, they engaged in a gunfight with the police, resulting in one of them being killed and the other suffering injuries. They were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the deceased was identified as Arshad and the injured as Yasin.
More encounters
One more suspect was killed during an encounter with the police in Sharifabad’s FC Area. Police said when they tried to intercept two suspects on a motorbike, the suspects opened fire and tried to flee, so the police retaliated and killed one of them while the other managed to flee.
Police also recovered a weapon from the deceased. The body was taken to the morgue pending identification after completing the medico-legal formalities at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Two more suspects were killed during an encounter with the police in the Ranchore Lane area. The Eidgah police said the encounter took place between patrolling policemen and the suspects, following which both suspects were killed. Their bodies were taken to the morgue after completing the medico-legal formalities at Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi. Police also recovered weapons from the deceased. They said the suspects had been involved in various cases of street crime.
