Gandapur promises sports facilities for seminarians

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Tuesday said the government would impart training and sponsor the foreign visits of the players showing outstanding performance in sports.

A handout said he was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Inter-Madaris and Persons with Different Abilities Games 2024 at Hayatabad Sports Complex Peshawar.Appreciating the organizers of the event, he said it would help discover new talent. He added it was the priority of the government to provide sports facilities to students of seminaries.

“We will provide facilities to students of seminaries, who have talent to prove their mettle in sports at national and international level,” he added.The chief minister also inaugurated the swimming pool and 3D Squash Court at Hayatabad Sports Complex. He said steps would be taken under a well-planned strategy to promote sports activities in the province. He said sportsmen showing outstanding performance would be sponsored to participate in international competitions.

The chief minister announced cash prizes for the winner, runner-up and third position holder teams in the Inter Madaris Games.Gandapur said the work on the restoration of Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium would be completed soon, adding efforts were being made to hold the international matches in the stadium this year. He added the government would organize district, provincial and national level sports events to promote a positive image of the province.

The chief minister said sports activities were meant to protect the youth from the use of drugs.Adviser to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs Syed Fakhar Jahan also addressed the event.
