A memorandum of understanding was singed between the National Highways and Motorway Police and the Sindh Emergency Rescue Service (Rescue 1122) on Wednesday.
The MoU was signed after representatives were informed at a meeting that the Sindh government’s rehabilitation department was committed to improving rescue service and emergency response in case of any emergency on highways and motorways.
National Highways and Motorway Police IG Salman Chaudhry, Additional IG Munir Ahmed Sheikh and DIG Muhammad Saleem visited the Rescue 1122 headquarters. Secretary Rehabilitation Department Pervaiz Ahmed, Director General Rescue 1122 Dr Abid Jalaluddin Sheikh and Director Admin Rescue 1122 (Sindh) Col. Sardar Ali Shah welcomed the IG, the additional IG and the DIG of the Motorway Police at their rescue headquarters and briefed them about the professional capabilities of their organisation.
Officials said the purpose of the meeting was to increase the focus on cooperation for better emergency response on highways and motorways of Sindh. Soon, by July-August 2024, 16 effective and advanced satellite stations of Rescue 1122 (Sindh) will play an important role in this effort.
Both sides agreed on positive cooperation in this regard and a memorandum was also signed to ensure this cooperation. The aim is to work together for the safety of people on highways and motorways. Both the organisations resolved to provide timely and good rescue service to the people on highways and motorways with their professional capabilities.
