PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed candidate for PK-90 Kohat, Aftab Alam, on Monday asked the provincial election commissioner and the returning officer to show impartiality during the re-election slated for February 15 at 25 polling stations in his constituency. Talking to reporters, he alleged that the re-election was being held to favour his rival.
Aftab Alam said that as per the Form-45, he polled 45,600 votes while his rival candidate Amjad Afridi got 16,500 votes when the results of 146 of the 179 polling stations was received. He maintained that changing the result amounted to stealing the mandate of the people.
Aftab Alam warned that he would move the court against the alleged change of election result in the Form-45. He said that he would approach the court in the hope of getting justice if the election was rigged in favour of his rival candidate.
