Hyderabad: The people of Hyderabad are honourable and brave, and no one can conquer them.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said this while addressing a public meeting in connection with the general elections at the Pukka Qila Ground on Friday.

He claimed that the public attendance at the public meeting was historic and nowhere in Pakistan such a public meeting had been held for electioneering.

He said the citizens of Hyderabad had sealed their destiny by coming to the rally and their participation revealed what would be the elections results.

Dr Siddiqui predicted that only kite would win from Hyderabad. He added that the city would not tolerate threat and bullying anymore, and the arrow, which is the symbol of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), would be buried here.

He said the era for people had started. “I had said four years ago that the era of the MQM will start in Hyderabad from 2023," he remarked.

He was of the view that the people of Hyderabad would hold the PPP accountable for its 15-year rule in the province.

The MQM-P chief said the cities of Sindh gave billions of rupees to the Sindh government in those 15 years and now they would seek accountability over every penny they had paid to the government.

Taking a jibe at the PPP, he said the people of Hyderabad never recognised artificial leadership imposed on them.

Dr Siddiqui remarked that the coming 10 years belonged to the Muhajirs whose patience had won. After 75 years, the people had realised that only the descendants of the founders of Pakistan could run the country.

He claimed that the MQM-P knew the ‘chemical formula’ that would guarantee good governance.

He recalled that the MQM helped Benazir Bhutto become the prime minister, but in return, an operation was started against the party.

He said the walls of the Pakka Qila were a witness of the oppression of the Pakistan Peoples Party on the Muhajir community.

He said the MQM-P had won Hyderabad and it would win Mirpurkhas on Saturday (today).

MQM-P Deputy Convener Anis Kaimkhani and candidates from Hyderabad also addressed the participants.
