Rob Reiner's years long struggle to save son Nick laid bare: Source
The filmmaker never gave up on son despite years of alarming behavior
Rob Reiner and wife Michele Reiner reportedly made several attempts to help their troubled son Nick, but he failed to take their assistance seriously.
The 32-year-old, who has been recently charged with the murders of his parents, sources told People that the "loving” parents "tried so hard already for years."
"At the end of the day, Nick didn’t take the help seriously," the insider continued.
"This was true for years and years. His issues were far, far out of his parents' control," according to the tipster.
The source further added that "Nick lied a lot."
"He was unreliable, but he was also convincing and intelligent."
"His family was empathetic to how much his struggles contributed to his behavior. They never lost hope in him, even when he was scaring them or making their lives harder," the bird chirped.
For those unversed, Rob and Michele were found dead inside their Los Angeles home on December 14. Later that night, Nick was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with his parents' deaths.
