Massive overcharging on fruits, vegetables

LAHORE:Prices of essential vegetables further increased this week besides massive overcharging on all items across the City.

Despite the local crops of seasonal vegetables arrived in the markets, but the rates are not coming down. Further, open violations of the rate lists are adding to the miseries of the buyers who are at the mercy of the sellers.

It seems that the district administration is least bothered to control the artificial inflation created by the sellers by violating the official rate lists. The price of chicken reduced by Rs9 per kg, fixed at Rs307-319 per kg, sold at Rs350-400 per kg, and chicken meat by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs463 per kg, and sold Rs500-1,000 per kg.

The price of potato soft skin new A-grade reduced by Rs22 per kg, fixed at Rs63-68 per kg, B-grade at Rs57-62 per kg, and C-grade at Rs50-55 per kilogram, mixed sold at Rs80-100 per kg.

The price of onion A-grade further gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs160-170 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs134-140 per kg, sold at Rs160-170 per kg, and C-grade fixed at Rs115-120 per kg, sold at Rs140 per kg.

The price of tomato A-grade unchanged at Rs95-100 per kg, sold at Rs160-200 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs85-90 per kg, and C-grade fixed at Rs75-80 per kg, both B&C mixed sold at Rs120-140 per kg.

The price of garlic local was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs390-405 per kg, sold at Rs500 per kg, and Garlic China gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs590-610 per kg, sold at Rs800 per kg.

The price Ginger Thai reduced by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs395-410 per kg, sold at Rs500 per kg, Garlic Indonesia fixed at Rs280-290 per kg, sold Rs400 per kg and ginger China gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs580-600 per kg, sold at Rs800 per kg.

Cucumber Farm gained by Rs14 per kg, fixed at Rs64-67 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg. Brinjal price was further gained by Rs7 per kg, fixed Rs57-60 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg.

Bitter gourd price gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs86-90 per kg, sold at Rs120-160 per kg. The price Spinach farm increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs50-53 sold at Rs70-80 per kg, spinach local was fixed at Rs55-58 per kg, sold at Rs100 per kg.

Carrot Chinese gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs178-185 per kg, sold at Rs280-300 per kg, carrot local unchanged at Rs62-65 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg.

Turnip was unchanged at Rs60-63 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg. Fenugreek (Methi) also unchanged Rs95-100 per kg, sold at Rs160-200 per kg. Pea price further reduced by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs155-160 per kg, sold at Rs200-240 per kg. Mustard leaves fixed at Rs40-43 per kg, sold at Rs50-60 per kg.

The price of different variety of apples was fixed at Rs60-265 per kg, sold at Rs180-450 per kg. The price of Banana A-category fixed at Rs120-125 per dozen, sold at Rs130-150 per dozen, and B-category fixed at Rs90-95 per dozen, sold at Rs120 per dozen, and C-category fixed at Rs65-70 per dozen, sold at Rs80-100 per dozen.

Pomegranate danaydar fixed at Rs340-355 per kg, sold at Rs400 per kg, Pomegranate khandahri fixed at Rs275-285 per kg, sold at Rs250-400 per kg, Pomegranate bedana gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs560-580 per kg, sold at Rs700-1,000. Guava was fixed at Rs68-140 per kg, sold at Rs130-250 per kg. Musami was fixed at Rs80-85 per dozen, sold at Rs140-170 per dozen. Fruiter was gained by Rs15 per dozen, fixed at Rs95-125 per dozen, sold at Rs150-250 per dozen. Citrus fruit gained by Rs5 per dozen, fixed at Rs70-110 per dozen, sold at Rs180-250 per dozen.
