The residents of the rural areas of Pakistan suffer from a lack of hospitals, forcing them to travel to major cities in order to get medical treatment. The cost of travel and medical care combined can be too much for many, leaving them without access to crucial care.
Even in areas where hospitals or clinics are present there can often be a shortage of essential medicines and doctors and other medical professionals. Vulnerable populations such as women are disproportionately affected by this problem. The government needs to improve access to healthcare in the rural areas.
