CHARSADDA: A woman has accused her ex-husband of subjecting her to severe torture, electric shocks and now being threatened to be eliminated if she did not marry his physically challenged brother.
Zainab Bibi, 18, a resident of Umarzai Town in Charsadda, told reporters that she had been married to one Alamgir some four years ago. She said she had a daughter from the marriage.Soon after the marriage, she said that her family came to know that her husband was a drug addict, who used to subject her to severe torture and inhuman treatment since the day one.
The complainant said that her husband had given her divorce for four times on different occasions but he later reconciled and both restarted matrimonial relationship.However, she said she went to the court after her husband gave her divorce for the fifth time where he also confirmed the divorce in the presence of a judge, witnesses and lawyers.
After divorce in the court, she said that Alamgir called her to his home on the pretext to collect stamp paper and the goods but there she was forced to marry a disabled brother of her ex-husband.
“I was beaten black and blue and given electric shocks when I refused to marry the physically challenged brother of my ex-husband,” Zainab Bibi alleged, adding that the accused also shaved her eyebrows and head.
She said that she was now living with her parents but her ex-husband was still hurling threats of dire consequences.She appealed to the government and relevant departments to provide protection to her family and take action against former husband.
