ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) while allowing former minister Fawad Chaudhry to meet his counsels and family members has directed to provide amenities to the petitioner in line with the jail manual.
The petition filed by Fawad Chaudhry seeking the provision of facilities in jail and allowing him to meet his lawyers and family members came up for hearing before a single bench of IHC led by Justice Arbab Tahir on Monday.
Faisal Chaudhry advocate brother of Fawad Chaudhry gave arguments. Deputy Superintendent Adiala Jail appeared in the court. DSP Adiala told the court Fawad Chaudhry has been kept in the security ward. Pleading the case, Faisal Chaudhry said the issue of meeting family members and children is mentioned in the law and it must be implemented.
Faisal Chaudhry said the court had allowed us to meet Fawad Chaudhry on Friday. At this, the court remarked why only on Friday and ordered the prison official to give them some other day for the meeting. The court inquired from the investigation officer about the nature of threats posed by the PTI leader and asked about the contents of the FIR.
The investigation officer said the FIR against Fawad Chaudhry. was registered under section 502.Regarding jail facilities and meeting with the lawyers, the judge referred to the orders of sessions judge and told them to file a petition if they are not being implemented. We will issue a detailed decision on it. The court while directing to provide facilities to Fawad Chaudhry under the jail manual also allowed him to meet his lawyers and family members.
