Minister pledges to expedite uplift schemes in Lower SW

WANA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Minister for Commerce, Industries, Crafts, and Technical Education, Dr Aamir Abdullah, visited Lower South Waziristan to learn about and expedite development schemes here on Thursday.

During his one-day visit, the caretaker minister attended a grand jirga of tribal elders, elected representatives, and youth at the district headquarters in Wana as the chief guest.Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nasir Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kashmir Khan, District Police Officer Farmanullah, and heads of all line departments participated in the jirga.

On the occasion, officials from the district administration and the police department provided a briefing to the minister regarding the status of development projects in Lower South Waziristan, government measures to solve public problems, and other related issues, including law and order.

The minister also held a special meeting with the elders and youth of Lower South Waziristan district during his visit, where they inquired about public problems at the local level.In his address to the jirga, Dr Amir Abdullah thanked the tribal people for their hospitality and stated that the development and prosperity of Waziristan were among the priorities of the provincial government.

He said he was visiting all the tribal districts so that the problems of the merged districts could be solved on a priority basis. He stated that all resources were being utilised to bring significant improvement in the health and education sectors, and no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.

The provincial minister called for further improvements in the agriculture sector in Lower South Waziristan. He mentioned that the survey of small dams had been completed, and a feasibility report would be prepared soon.

He assured the jirga the vocational centers would be established at every tehsil level.Dr Amir Abdullah underscored the importance of drug prevention, urging people to support law enforcement agencies to end the scourge. He assured the formation of a special commission soon for the demarcation of the borders of Lower and Upper South Waziristan districts.
