Governor opens world water expo
LAHORE: Punjab Governor Balighur Rahman on Wednesday inaugurated the 7th International Pure Water Expo at Expo Centre. The expo witnessed full participation of international and local organisations related to water delivery and drainage, including Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority, Wasa Lahore and etc. The governor visited the stalls, including the stall of Aab-e-Pak Authority where officers concerned gave briefing on the plans of the authority to him. The governor reviewed the mobile water filtration plant powered by solar energy created by the authority. A briefing was also given to the governor on the characteristics of ultra-filtration hand pumps.
He said that water plays a very important role in life. He appreciated the authority for doing impressive work in a very short time. He asked the citizens to adopt a proper use of clean drinking water to save this precious resource for the future generations. He said that sewerage water should be put into the rivers after treatment. He said business activities increased by organising these exhibitions.
Aab-e-Pak Authority CEO Syed Zahid Aziz also visited the expo and said holding International Expo on Water in Pakistan was a very welcoming sign. Syed Zahid Aziz said Pakistan Water Operators Network, Unicef and Water Aid also participated in the expo, which showed the confidence of these international organisations in Aab-e-Pak Authority.
Meanwhile, Wasa MD Ghafran Ahmed while talking to the media at the expo said renewable energy practices were being adopted in Wasa. He said Wasa was reducing pressure on underground water by controlling its underground water tanks and tube well timings.
He said by organising this exhibition, institutions will be able to benefit from each other's experiences and the new technologies can also be used to save water and energy. This exhibition will continue from October 25 to 27, 2023.
UVAS orientation programme
Institute of Continuing Education and Extension (ICE&E) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged an orientation programme for newly-admitted students of Livestock Assistant Diploma (LAD) at ICE&E Lahore Campus. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the programme while Director ICE&E Dr Hassan Mahmood Warraich, faculty members & administration office and students with their parents attended the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed inaugurated ICE&E Lahore Campus. He visited along Dr Hassan Mahmood and other dignitaries various section of ICE&E Lahore Campus. While addressing the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad congratulated the students on their admissions purely on merit. He mentioned UVAS recently got 801-1,000 position in THE World University Ranking and secured 9th position among Pakistani universities while 3rd among Punjab Universities. He advised all the students to follow the discipline, rules & regulation.
