Pakistani music, as diverse as its multiethnic population, ranges from qawwali to good ol’ fashioned rock ‘n’ roll and everything in between. Its music includes influences from various parts of the world - South Asia, Central Asian, Persian, Turkish, Arabic, and modern day Western. Having such a rich formulation, Pakistani music holds a distinctive sound. And wherever this sound reaches, everything around it sways to the rhythm.

Celebrating this art, the fifth edition of Lahore Music Meet (LMM) is scheduled to take place at Alhamra Art Center on the 1st and 2nd of February 2020. It is a well-established and unique platform for day long musical performances and meaningful conversations and activities pertaining to music enterprise, education and academia.

The Music Meet will bring the two-day musical celebration to 4 stages packed with live performances, masterclasses and conversations with Pakistan’s finest musicians. Since 2015, LMM has endeavoured to lay down a fertile setting for the nurturing of Pakistan’s emerging, contemporary and traditional music landscape. It boasts an alumni list of more than two hundred artists from all genres of the Pakistani music and creative arts scene. This year’s line-up includes Punjabi folk legend Naseebo Lal, progressive folk-rock band, Saakin, electro-pop producer Talal Qureshi and Punjabi RnB star Shamoon Ismail as a part of the indoor showcase. The outdoor showcase, featuring a diversity of artists who encapsulate various musical spectrums of Pakistan, will present Haniya Aslam, Adil Omar, Mekaal Hassan Band, Ali Noor, Mughal-e-Funk, Natasha Humera Ejaz, Mehdi Maloof, Faris Shafi, IFRA, Gentle Robot, Madlock, Mahak Qayyum, Hassan Sheikh & Roshaan Sherwani, Towers, Maanu, Karakoram, Fake Shamans, Farheen Raza and Iqbal. The outdoor showcase will also feature Battle of the Bands Season 4 winner Auj and finalist Aarish. The event, like always, will be open to the general public.

Moreover, LMM is women-led and consists of Festival Directors Natasha Noorani and Zahra Paracha with Sana Nasir as Lead Designer and Munizeh Sanai as Creative Director. Its ultimate goals remain to create a meaningful engagement between audiences and musicians, encouraging new talents and fostering relationships between individuals within the music fraternity. By providing a platform of such scale, once every year, LMM hopes to enrich the ever growing Pakistani music ecosystem within Pakistan and abroad.

Stay tuned!
