Are you sick and tired of oily skin or acne breakout? Read on to find out some homemade masks that will keep your skin problems away...

We all want radiant and flawless skin; for that, we either resort to buying those expensive face masks available in the market or spend hours at the salon which turns out to be quite pricey as well. While it is absolutely alright to opt for quality skincare products, every now and then you must try to find the perfect homemade solution to your skin problems. A homemade facial mask naturally pampers your skin, minimises pores, smoothes wrinkles and rejuvenates your skin and that too without chemicals. So, just like last week, You! brings some simple homemade face masks that will not only rejuvenate your skin, but will also help in keeping your skin problems at bay.

Turmeric mask for acne and scars

Acne is one of the most common problems that young girls suffer from. This DIY mask contains turmeric which is known for its strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. All you have to do is combine 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 2 teaspoons of rice flour with 3 tablespoons of plain yoghurt. Mix well to form a smooth paste and apply it on your face especially acne-prone areas. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. When dry, damp your face and gently scrub the mask for 1 minute or so. Wash it off with cool water and pat dry your face with a soft towel.

Honey and lemon mask for minimising enlarged pores

Admit it or not but there's actually no real way to close up your pores. However, there are clever ways to minimise them and for that here's what you have to do. Beat the white of 1 egg, then mix 1 tablespoon of honey and squeeze half a lemon in the mixture. Apply it generously all over your face and allow the mask to dry completely. Your skin will feel tight as the mask starts drying. Rinse the mask using lukewarm (not hot) water. Finish the process by gently rubbing an ice cube over your skin.

Organic banana mask for glowing skin

This super-easy tropical DIY face mask will not only give your skin a healthy, natural-looking glow, but it is also designed to be gentle enough on all skin types. To make this mask you will need 1 tablespoon of orange juice, 1 tablespoon of honey and one-half of a banana. In a bowl, mash the banana and add in honey and orange juice. Mix well and apply the mask to your face. Keep the mask on for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and then moisturise.

Papaya mask for uneven skin tones

This mask is especially great for those who have hyper pigmentation, sun spots, and helps in lightening blemishes. Take 2 tablespoons of honey and half cup of mashed papaya and blend the two ingredients together. Gently apply the mixture over your face and leave it on for almost 15 to 20 minutes. Wash it off and don't forget to moisturise afterwards.

Aloe Vera and cacao mask for an otherworldly glow

If a dull and lacklustre complexion is your biggest beauty bugbear, you need this mask in your life. What you need: 1 tablespoon of cacao powder, 1/4 papaya and some Aloe Vera gel. Simply mix together all the three ingredients into a bowl and stir well. Apply this mask on your face - it has the ability to brighten your and boost blood circulation. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off. Pat dry with tissue.

Baking soda and lemon mask for oily skin

Oily skin is one of the most frustrating and problematic skin types. You wash your face in the morning, and after 2 hours, you look no less than a grease ball. And if you apply makeup then it becomes next to impossible to keep it oil free. This homemade mask is just perfect for those with oily skin. The things you'll need include 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Mix baking soda and lemon juice in a bowl. The baking soda will start to bubble up, which is normal. Apply the face pack, avoiding the eye area and rub the mask in slow, circular motions around the oily T-zone. Rinse it with cool water after 15 minutes and apply a light moisturiser.

TIPS

  • Before you apply a mask, make sure your skin is thoroughly clean and your pores are open. The best ways of doing this is to take a shower or use steam to clean and open pores.
  • Always do a patch test before applying any new face mask to test for skin allergies or irritation.
  • Avoid the sensitive areas around your eyes and mouth while applying a face mask, as strong ingredients can irritate these delicate areas.
