It’s that time of the year again! The month of Ramazan has come with all its blessings and most commonly, with a bunch of mouth-watering snacks. Ahmed of Kitchen Craft, who shares her tasty recipe of ‘Deep Fried Chicken with Cumin and Sesame’. Have a blissful Ramazan!

I N G R E D I E N T SDeep Fried Chicken with Cumin and Sesame

Breast fillet    3

Flour   1/2 cup

Corn flour      1/4 cup

Baking powder          1 tsp

Oil      2 tsps 

Sesame seeds 1/2 cup

Ground cumin 1/4 tsp

Water  3/4 cup

Oil      for frying 

For dipping sauce

Fresh ginger (grated) 1/2 tsp

Green onion (finely chopped)          1 tsp

Vinegar         1 tsp

Soy sauce     1 tsp

Ketchup        2 tsp

Sesame oil     1 tsp

M E T H O D

  • Mix together the flour, corn flour, baking powder and pinch of salt in a bowl.
  • Add oil and whisk while adding water to make a smooth medium thick batter.
  • Add sesame seeds and cumin and cover with a plastic wrap.
  • To make the dipping sauce, mix together all the ingredients and set aside.
  • Cut the chicken lengthwise into thin strips, season with salt and pepper, dip in the batter. Deep fry in hot oil.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve immediately with dipping sauce.
