This week You! takes a look at the cosy interiors of a restaurant in Karachi...

Just like home, even better!

For us Karachiites there are not many options when it comes to having fun. So, we are left with roaming about in the malls, going to cinemas and of course the most important aspect, indulging in food. But what attracts you to a particular restaurant? Well, the first thing that catches your eye is definitely the exterior of an eatery and then the interiors; after that comes the food. They say, we eat with our eyes, and that totally stands true. One look and you can decide whether you want to go inside the cafe or restaurant to enjoy a cuppa or a yummy meal. The food being served in an aesthetically done restaurant with a good atmosphere is all that we crave for. Karachi has numerous restaurants, and each place has a unique interior design coupled with decor that differentiates it from the rest.

So, if you are looking for a relaxed place to grab breakfast, lunch, brunch or even just a quick coffee, ‘The Patio’ should be your choice over any usual franchise options available in town. Located in Clifton, this restaurant is a great place to go to if you want to just chill in a cosy, home-like atmosphere; whether to read a book over tea, to have some quiet ‘me-time’ with artistically garnished desserts, or meet up with colleague for work over lunch, homey family time for dinner with freshly put together ingredients or have Sunday brunch with your husband with a variety of items to choose from. It is a very down to earth affair. It is almost like home; food reminds you of your grandma’s delicious secret recipes with a chef adding the beauty in the final presentation.

The entire space is done in white and yellow hues giving a fresh feel. The interior of this eatery is the perfect balance between rustic and modern for a space that has gravitas without losing light heartedness. Soaring windows, wood and concrete, minimalistic interior, abstract yet aesthetic framed artwork and a sunny colour palette make this restaurant one of the favourite spaces for foodies in town. Speaking of towering windows, while devouring the tastefully selected menu from the breakfast section, the ample warm sunlight falling on you, makes it feel like a chapter right out of a romantic novel.

The calm view of the little outdoor sitting area, after which the restaurant is named, is exactly what you need after a long day of work. The furniture is quite basic and comfortable - wooden tables and chairs have been placed strategically all around the place that gives off a homely vibe.

The Patio is an eating place that takes ‘patios’ - as the name suggests itself - very seriously. It is the best spot to sit and enjoy the cool evening breeze in summers with some delicious smoothie surrounded by gorgeously placed greenery.

Relax, quiet the mind, and activate yin and yang. The owner, Sunita Achria, and servers are very friendly, making the experience even more memorable. The eatery claims to be a contemporary fine dining restaurant that serves Pan-Asian and Pakistani food. Although it has a simple menu, always evolving, be assured that there’s something for everyone especially the rare vegetarian species in this meat-obsessed city. This place certainly seems a pretty good place to hang out.
