When we talk about formal dinners and parties we need to look our best, which means flaunting a stylish and elegant outfit. However, with summer in its full swing your preference would be light weight fabric and of course nothing beats lawn. With a little embroidery and embellishments you can make your simple lawn ka jora into a formal one. Here are a few types of prints, embroideries and embellishments that you can opt for if you want to add an oomph factor to your dress. Read on to find out more...Add some bling!

Prints and patterns:

Digitally yours: We all know that these days digital technique prints are doing rounds. It was sometime back that 3-D prints were introduced and in no time digital prints became quite popular with all the fashion conscious women going gaga over such prints.

These types of prints are usually much more coloured, so they attract a great amount of attention. Circles, lines, florals, birds, buildings, you can find everything in digital prints. It is absolutely amazing how much digital print can make a difference. Go subtle or bold depending on personal preference and style but try not to go towards the extreme as there is a fine line between a fabulous fashionable ensemble and a fashion disaster.

Abstract prints: Incorporating architectural structures and geometric shapes into the design of an  attire is a fantastically creative way to add artistic elements to the overall look. The use of bold shapes and structures, odd frames and often three-dimensional features serve to make abstract print look eye-catching and stylish. Lately, a lot of designers have started incorporating abstract patterns with florals etc. By using geometric patterns, shapes and styles, the designs become wholly striking and quirky.

Floral prints: Blooms continue to flourish this summer. Tiny floral, over sized floral, the retro floral and the delicate pastel floral prints are everywhere. When it comes to floral prints, there is something for everyone. Flowers are always in season and are feminine. It is absolutely essential to choose the flower prints that suit your personality as there are a variety of flower styles to choose from. You can go for a playful, graphic daisy-print dress or a print of roses. You can go subtle or bold as any design can look great if combined with the perfect fashionable items to create a feminine stylish look.

Pretty embellishments:

Art of zari: For long, zari has been an art associated with the aristocratic and royal persona in India. In Persian, the art is known by the term - zardozi. Zari is an intricate art of weaving threads made of fine gold or silver. These threads are further woven into fabrics to create beautiful patterns. The designs are so exquisite that the fabric gets an overall rich and a beautiful look. Initially, zari was made of real silver and gold, but now zari has gone through some changes and polyester or cotton yarn is used at its core, wrapped in metallic yarn and is produced in 20 colours.Add some bling!

Resham embroidery: Embellishing any outfit - formal wear or casual lawn suits - with resham embroidery is very common in our part of the world. Resham work is embroidery done with coloured silk thread and the design can be simple or very intricate; it all depends on your choice. One can even add some beads and sequins to add a sparkly dash to the outfit.

Cutwork: Cutwork embroidery is an enchanting and eye-pleasing form of needlework where portions of the background fabric, as the name suggests, are cut out and discarded, while the edges are worked over in variety of stitches. Cutwork is an antique embroidery technique, which was born in Italy many ages ago. Due to its outstanding beauty, it quickly spread all over the world. In cutwork, decorative holes are cut out into certain spots of embroidered items, to create an intriguing ‘see through’ effect.

Studs and rhinestones: Nowadays women especially young girls are crazy about studs (don’t get confused, we mean studs embellishments). The art of decorating your dress with studs has taken on various forms; right from the grand to downright quirky. You will find studs anywhere and everywhere - they are on shirts, pants, bags, shoes etc.

Go the designer way:

If you don’t have the time and energy to spend on getting your fabric embellished then head out to your favourite designer and grab your formal or semi-formal outfit. And the good news is that recently Sifona, a leading textile house of Pakistan, launched their festive lawn collection 2016. For those who don’t know the brand is high street and offers a wide range of women fashion apparel including casual, formal, party wear and pret collection.

The Spring/Summer 2016 lawn capsule collection includes three-piece digital printed embroidered lawn. It is available in 12 distinct designs; some pieces are adorned with intricate embroidery and paired with printed chiffon dupattas. The feature that makes this collection festive is that the brand has incorporated beautiful dupattas with zari and resham embroideries that look chic and trendy. Regarding the collection, Nadeem Polani of Sifona, said, “The design philosophy behind the brand is to allow every woman to embrace her femininity and feel stylish.”
