Dear Ed,

I really enjoy “Poets’ corner”. I can see that Ali Asghar, Mah Noor and Tehreem Asghar have become regular contributors. They are terrific poets!

But I have a request: please publish new poets as well. Some poets have become repetitive and some poets are writing really sad pieces. I think holding poetry competition will be a great way to enjoy some diverse and interesting poetry.

Hello Editor,

It’s weird that my passion for sports have faded away during the last few months and I am sure it’s because of the pandemic. So, while I was thinking about why watching old matches and Olympics videos is no more exciting to me, I got a chance to read “The Khan Dynasty” by Muhammad Nabeel. And I must say what a beautiful way to celebrate our legends! Now I feel like learning more about our country’s sportspersons who are a huge source of inspiration for our younger generation. Thanks, Us for such an informative and thought-provoking article!

Salam Eddy,

What an honest expression of love, Fatima! We all feel the same. Strings has a special place in everyone’s heart. Their music was just gold! I, too, remember how songs like “Kahani Muhabbat ki” and “Mera Bichraa Yaar” would make me so emotional for no reason. I mean together their voice was so powerful that literally the song “Mera Bicharaa Yaar” made me feel like as if I had really lost a friend so I must feel sad about it.

And undoubtedly, it’s really hard to accept that Strings is no more, but then we know at some point in time people do part ways. There is always something better that follows. So, let’s hope they continue to entertain us with their music!

Query

Salam Editor,

I love reading Us magazine. The stories are always informative and fun to read. But I miss reading fictional stories; they used to be short and simple. I would always feel like penning down something of my own. But whenever I decided to write something, my inner voice told me not to. Can you give me a piece of advice on how I should stop listening to that voice and actually write something? Also, what do you see in an article before publishing it?

Samina Syed

Hello, Samina. The only piece of advice in this case is: just write! And then keep writing. That’s the only way you can mute that inner voice.

Before deciding to publish an article, all we see is how interesting and relevant it is to youth.

Reflection

Narrated ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab:

The Prophet said, ‘O people! The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions, and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So, whoever emigrated for Allah and His Apostle, then his emigration was for Allah and His Apostle, and whoever emigrated to take worldly benefit or for a woman to marry, then his emigration was for what he emigrated for.”
