First timers’ corner
Dear Ed,
I came across this magazine at my school quite recently. Before that, to be honest, I had no idea there was even a magazine for the youth in our country. I mean, sure, there are articles and stories submitted for/by young people all the time, but they are published under a separate column. This magazine, however, is another deal. I went through a couple of issues online (on your Facebook page) and I must admit I found it pretty interesting. I am not very big on writing, but after reading the relatable stories, their easy going style, I want to! Hopefully, I will once I am done with my finals.

Feedback
Hi Ed,
This is just another letter to praise Saniyyah Eman’s “Violet Vipers”. Thank you Us for publishing such a riveting story. I know it’s a fictional series and yet, knowing the harrowing details of everyday life in Kashmir, I couldn’t help but feel everything that Jaleelah and Yusuf encounter while growing up in the valley. I literally got goosebumps while reading Chapter 7. It’s such a beautiful place! Such beautiful people! And then there are those who feel it’s okay to terrorise individuals and families ceaselessly. The sad part is the goons get away with it. I know there are no happy endings for Kashmiris in real life, but I’m counting on Sanniyah to give one to Jaleelah and Yusuf.

Abdullah bin Umar said, “Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) took hold of my shoulder and said, ‘Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler.” The sub-narrator added: Ibn Umar used to say, “If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and (take) from your life for your death.”
