Hey Ed,

Really enjoyed reading Danyal Zafars interview (Sept 14)! I am glad young people are showing up in the industry and are ready to take the stage by storm.

While reading the interview, I felt Danyal Zafar is a bit too influenced by his brother, Ali Zafar (Well, he resembles his brother very much). The introduction begins with “Danyal Zafar is following in the footsteps of his famous brother, Ali Zafar ...” which foretells the readers that there would be lots of Ali Zafar in the interview.

Danyal claims, “There are people who love introducing themselves on the weight of their popular or powerful family members, but I was always taught to work towards building my own identity”, but I don’t think he has really been able to walk the talk. The entire interview is filled with references to his “popular” brother: “I felt immensely proud of him”, “I was nothing but inspired by him”, “The talent he has is something different”, “To see him work so hard was what would inspire me”, “My brother gave me his Zen music player”, “My brother saw me evolving as a musician”, “He took me to his studio every day”. Come on, Danyal Zafar, you really need to work on building your own identity.

I am sure Ek aur ek 3 will take us all by surprise!

Dear Ed,

Saniyyah Eman’s story “A gentleman’s agreement” (Sept 7 and Sept 14) was a breath of fresh air! I love how she describes characters; I could literally see them walking, talking and feel their emotions. Razia is an interesting character; her energy and courage is infectious.

And Ed, it’s torture waiting for the next episode. I just hope the story has a happy ending.

Hi Eddy,

It will really boost my confidence if my paintings get space in Us magazine. Can you please tell how I can send my art work for publication?

Bilal, send your art work to us.mag@thenews.com.pk. It should be a scanned copy of your art work and make sure it’s in .jpg format.

Reflection

Narrated by Abu Huraira (R.A)

Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) entered the mosque and a person followed him. The man prayed and went to the Prophet and greeted him. The Prophet returned the greeting and said to him, “Go back and pray, for you have not prayed.” The man went back prayed in the same way as before, returned and greeted the Prophet who said, “Go back and pray, for you have not prayed.” This happened thrice. The man said, “By Him Who sent you with the Truth, I cannot offer the prayer in a better way than this. Please, teach me how to pray.” The Prophet said, “When you stand for Prayer say Takbir and then recite from the Holy Qur’an (of what you know by heart) and then bow till you feel at ease. Then raise your head and stand up straight, then prostrate till you feel at ease during your prostration, then sit with calmness till you feel at ease (do not hurry) and do the same in all your prayers. “
