Became interested in acting as a career after spending a summer at London’s National Youth Theatre.
Studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and adopted Andrew Lincoln as his stage name.
Made his screen debut in an episode of the British sitcom Drop the Dead Donkey in 1994 before appearing in a number of British television series including This Life (1996 - 1997), Shipwrecked (2000 - 2001), Teachers (2001 - 2003), and Afterlife (2005 - 2006).
Received wider recognition after appearing in the film Love Actually (2003).
Has since gained fame portraying the protagonist of the post-apocalyptic horror television series The Walking Dead (2010 - present).
Married Gael Anderson (the daughter of Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson) in 2006. They have two children, Matilda and Arthur, together.
